My Interior Wishlist

The Lusting Life: My Interior Wishlist

Whilst everyone else is busy deciding what Black Friday bargains they’ll add to their baskets tomorrow, I’m sharing my ultimate interior wishlist.

There are some great offers and discounts out there for the Black Friday Weekend (helloo ASOS!!) but I’m pretty skint right now so will just have to window shop this year, sob. But it got me thinking about what interior pieces I’m forever lusting after. Discount or not, I’ve compiled my Interior Wishlist of items I truly want need in my home one day.

The Seletti Monkey Lamp

My interior taste has always been quite ‘marmite’ but I have adored the quirky Seletti standing monkey lamp for quite some time now. My dream would be to have several of them hanging from the landing walls and ceiling in a Jamanji inspired vision teamed with jungle inspired wallpaper from House of Hackney. I’m still torn between decorating my fictional house (currently renting & don’t yet own this dream house I’m already decorating in my head) in either option 1, option 2 or option 3.

I’d describe my interior taste as grown-up fun. I think design should be personal, fun & reflect your own personality even if your home isn’t to everyone’s taste. I’m a magpie for vintage pieces, I lust after luxe/ high end accessories, dark, moody colours and the more whimsical pieces available.

The Investment Chair

Another item I’m always drawn to when I’m pawing through Living etc, or drooling over Pinterest is an Eames Lounge Chair. If I were to add one to our living room I’d definitely opt for a buttery, tan leather one like below.

Or I’d opt for one in white for our guest bedroom teamed with a dreamy, cloud print statement wallpaper like Cole & Son‘s Nouvelette Fornasetti II. With my budget, an original is out of reach but I’ve found some great replicas here, here & here.

The Statement Wallpaper

The calming bedroom below would be ideal. Dreamy greys teamed with plum/ fuscia and mixing luxe fabrics, textures & furnishings with a stunning en-suite. But with my eclectic taste, I’d also style the bedroom with a white Moroccan pouf in the corner, add some greenery with an Abigail Ahern faux cactus & add colour punchy, hot pink, neon sign on the wall because.. well I love a bloody good neon sign to light up a room!

The Beautiful Bathroom

I would keep the en-suite clean and white, with metro tiles, gold fittings, dark floors and a pop of colour with a wall in either HOH X William Morris Acanthus wallpaper, House of Hackney’s Troop wallpaper or the stunning La Gent Wabi Cloud wallpaper.

 The Dream Office

Talking of statement wallpapers, I need to find a place for this beauty, Cole & Son’s Geometric II Prism Wallpaper. I’m lusting after this for my future office, I’d team with a dark, wood vintage desk, an Eames white leather executive chair and the Jonathan Adler Jacques bench nearby with a statement cushion to lounge on with an interiors magazine & coffee in hand on my break… If only, forever I will lust!

jacques_bench-1I am a serious hoarder of statement wallpapers though, and artwork. A habit since my days at Laura Ashley. I buy a couple of rolls and save it for a future projects if I’m worried it will sell out/ go out of print before I get chance to decorate a house with it (weird, I know.) But when I finally buy a house I have a shit ton of interior bits and pieces stored away for when the day comes. Hurrah!

The Rug…of Dreams

And finally, well there are endless other items I lust after daily, and vow to one day own, topping that list above all others is my endless search for the perfect Moroccan Beni Ourain rug…of course. The cult rug, the Pinterest worthy item that is searched for and drooled over by thousands daily.

I don’t currently have the home or the money for one, and I’m sure within a few years it will get trashed with 2 cats & being used in a high traffic area like the living room, but I will buy one. An offensively expensive, huge one to take up the whole living room area because for about 4 years I have thought of nothing else but one day owning a Beni Ourain rug.

It’s also not just any Beni Ourain rug I want, it has to be the right shape, colour, pattern & it has to have knotted tassels… I’ve been searching for the one for a while now. And I won’t lie, I’m not afraid to share with you that on at least not one, but two occasions have I had to have a serious “what the eff are you doing” moment when I’ve nervously waited & praying to be outbid on Ebay at 2am after bidding an obscene amount I can’t afford on a rug!

Either way, the search continues. If you’re also after the perfect Beni Ourain rug, I’ve narrowed it down to some great contenders here, here & here in case I can’t find the perfect one on Ebay when the time come ( I know you exist!)

So if like me this year’s Black Friday Weekend is more of a window shop kinda weekend, I hoped you’ve managed to stop yourself from spending too much money so far. I’ll be holding out for the items on my ultimate interiors wishlist. (well mostly, there may have been a small ASOS order earlier today…)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Interior Wishlist, let me know what items you’re lusting after in the comments below. Thanks for reading.
